Cheesy Alfredo Sauce

Directions
-
Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta until al dente according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
-
Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet or saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.
-
Build the Cream Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
-
Add the Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Stir in the salt, pepper, and nutmeg if using.
-
Toss with Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until evenly coated. Use reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to loosen the sauce.
-
Finish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and additional parmesan before serving.
