Grilled Broccolini

Grilled Broccolini is a simple yet elegant side dish that brings out the best in this tender vegetable. The high heat of the grill creates lightly charred edges while keeping the stems crisp-tender and flavorful. Finished with bright lemon, garlic, and a sprinkle of Parmesan, this wine country-inspired side dish pairs beautifully with grilled steak, seafood, or roasted meats.

Directions

  1. Prepare the Broccolini: Trim the ends of the broccolini and remove any tough leaves. Rinse well and pat dry. If the stalks are thick, slice them lengthwise so they cook evenly.

  2. Season the Broccolini: Place broccolini in a large bowl. Add olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using. Toss until the broccolini is evenly coated.

  3. Grill the Broccolini: Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Arrange the broccolini in a single layer and grill for 3–5 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the stems are tender and the edges are lightly charred.

  4. Finish and Serve: Transfer the grilled broccolini to a serving platter. Sprinkle with lemon zest and Parmesan cheese, then squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top. Garnish with toasted almonds, if desired.

Shawnie’s notes

Broccolini cooks quickly, so watch it closely to achieve the perfect balance of smoky char and tender texture.

If grilling outdoors isn’t an option, broccolini can be roasted at 425°F for 15–20 minutes until lightly caramelized.
